To be fair, she ain't wrong about him needing to understand things from the bottom up now that he doesn't have a cushy life anymore; adventurer's are, at their core, freelancing vagabonds who, in any other scenario, would be the dregs of society reduced to doing the shit jobs nobody else wants to do.

They're just lucky that monsters exist, so gathering materials, escort detail, and subjugation work exist to lift them up from that.

But, yeah, that last part was extremely cringe.

I like the idea of the quest competition grading (in most fantasy stories there is only success or failure), it helps with the evaluation about someone's worth at rank raising and/or demotion...

I mean how many stories have that exact same premise? The author probably wanted to go for something different here. We usually don't highlight the pathetic beginning stages of a character so when they get stronger almost immediately the impact isn't as large

How is two weeks of this

not strenuous labor? He's shaking sweating and never mopped anything, this work looks way more intense than a walk in the forest especially with the constant mana drain. He gets paid for it, interacts with the world outside of being coddled by Novem and increases his stamina killing three birds with one stone. I think its a pretty reasonable foundation to build on with his training
