@Mako Yeah, a lot of people glorify Japan, but they tend to ignore the inhumane part of the culture. It's quite sad

There's nothing that can beat the next day's hangover like waking up with your face buried in a drool-soaked fluffy tail!

Unpaid overtime? Pfft. I don't work without pay, simple as that. Not even if I happen to screw up by mistake would that scenario be acceptable, everyone is only human, screwing up once in a while is only natural and shouldn't affect your pay or force you to work extra to "make up for your mistake". It's not as if humans are machines. If you work overtime, you get paid your normal salary + overtime bonus and even then overtime shouldn't be a normal thing. It's hilarious how he, in this chapter, didn't get paid for overtime AND got scolded because the customer FAILED TO SPECIFY WHAT HE WANTED. Unless you're in a backwards shithole of a company, that would normally mean that the customer would have to pay extra and that the deadline would be reasonably extended, what's this bullshit about working extra for free to give the customer something he didn't even order? Fuck off.

There are always other workplaces available. What's most important, your physical and mental health or keeping your job? I'll personally always put my well-being first. I can't enjoy the money or even my life if I work more than the standard times all the time. What's even the point then? Might as well die or live like a pauper rather than being tortured until you die from overwork. Seriously, just look at the mc of this manga. He's a pathetic human being whose very existence is worthless. He might as well've been dead before the lolibaba kitsune came into his life. He works so much that he doesn't have the time to enjoy anything that he earns, that he doesn't have the time to even spend his money, that he can't manage his health, that his days are just work ---> eat ---> sleep for way too few hours, rinse and repeat, with rare holidays where he's so fucking burned out that he sleeps the entire day away only to go back to the same old routine again, all while getting to appreciation whatsoever for his work. What's the point of living such a life(the way he tells himself it's fine is also quite amusing "it's not good to complain when some other people has it worse", yeah, right, as if that matters, so you wouldn't have the right to complain if you were severely handicapped because somewhere, someone has it worse?)? Just put him out of his misery. Euthanize the poor motherfucker, stop his suffering. Well, of course he's got a reason to live now with his kitsune wife, but you get my point.

Luckily I live in a country with proper laws binding companies and a system that prioritizes EFFECTIVENESS and LOGIC rather than pure time spent. A human being needs at least several hours of free time+6-8 hours of sleep each day along with two days off every week in order to be physically and mentally healthy. This results in work being more effective as well, what kind of fucking garbage-tier work can you do when you're tired 24/7 and feel like shit? Sure as hell won't be any quality stuff. A company also has no right to order their employees around however they want, they can only order you to do what's in the work contract and if there's anything else, there needs to be mutual consent and the employed as a lot to say about what he wants to do. Forced overtime isn't a thing at all, you can only choose to or choose not to do it and getting fired because you refuse is a breach of contract as it wasn't a part of it. Then there's the obligatory few weeks of vacation each year and pay during said vacation. Now THAT'S how to take care of the workforce and make sure that things are done with proper quality and efficiency, that makes sure the populace is happy and they might even enjoy working and thus producing much more brilliant results. Anyone who says that forced labor or more work is good or natural and produces better results just because more time is spent are fucking retarded and should be put down for a better world.

Honestly, this manga could've been much better if the mc wasn't a corporate slave in a black company whose eyes looks like a dead fish. I can literally see no reason as to why the foxes would care about someone like him and I just can't relate to him even a little which in turn reduces my enjoyment greatly. I love the fluffy moments, I love the foxes and the overall peaceful atmosphere while reading this, but it's annoying to see him being treated like a slave and looking like one as well. This is not really anything much more than an extreme wish-fulfillment reality escape almost wank material level manga which embodies the ideals of these loner corporate slaves or just people who are burned out from work. It's soul healing medicine for them, but I just find it to be kind of ridiculous at times. Ridiculous and sad. These people are pretty much modern day slaves, not being appreciated or rewarded for their hard work and being treated like shit while just getting some basic compensation they barely even have the time to spend properly as their lives are made up of almost only work. So many novels or manga nowadays cater to these people, usually isekai stuff. Japan's work culture is outdated and should be completely overturned for something new.

Well, that was a long rant. Time to sleep, I don't even know why I'm wasting my time writing this shit. It's not as if it matters. Perhaps I should block the comment section so that I don't have to even consider commenting and wasting time on it.

That wall of text just as easily could have been "This shit is whack, yo." Perhaps Twitter was right all along about forcing people to be brief.

I just need to say, I guess the reason why Nakano is being a slave in black company is a part of him bring misery to other people

In further chapter, he mentioned how he didn't mind work like this, maybe because this is what he 'deserve'. Many times he overwork himself because he simply can't say 'no' to his coworkers pleas. He also has a choice to be more relaxed about work, but he just doesn't do that. Nakano is secretly really suicidal in the first chapter, but the mangaka is being subtle about that. That is also part of the reason why Senko is there to help him in the first place, Nakano can die if she leaves him in his own device.

What shocked more is, yeah, Nakano is aware that he is a little bit suicidal (in the 50ish chapters), he only aware of that because of Senko.

Behind all the warmth and fluffiness of the manga, the story is actually a bit dark. I don't mind though, because Senko saves Nakano from himself.

@seidooreiki I was just about to post a comment saying something along the lines of how if she really wanted to eliminate his stress, she should just make him quit and help him find a less soul crushing job, but your comment made me think. You might be right that he has some serious mental issues where he feels like he has to keep at it and like he deserves all the awful shit he gets at his job, to the point where quitting would be unthinkable. Here's hoping that later in the series he gets over that and finally realizes how unusually toxic his job is and how no one deserves to live like that.

The laws are shaped around the culture of japan he doesn’t just think that quitting his his job is unthinkable society in japan believes that japan is only so advanced cause no workplace mental safety also why nobody has time to have children, cause they work so much. Asia is fundamentally structured to treat people as machines in the first place don’t blame mc blame the culture of Asia and the person who started it. Remember we as people who live in the west have a culture of independence and why we wouldn’t stand for a horrible job. Also a lot of people commit suicide due to the stress of this system. @Seregosa

Umeshu is nice.

But honestly this sort of thing does nothing for me. I don't just mean the whole loli factor (though that is disturbing enough)... but who would even want someone around who is no more than a living crutch? And he lives in a small home like I do, so he obviously doesn't get any privacy. =/
I couldn't tolerate it... for all the above reasons. The lack of privacy I've tried to tolerate before but it drove me insane. Living with a loli would be even more fucking awkward. And someone who just recites contrived lines about support and whatever like she does would leave me constantly paranoid about when her true motives would be revealed.

It would be horrible. Absolutely horrible. Far worse than just living alone.

As other people said, the real question would be if the constant overworking actually causes more loss than profit or not. I guess that here it would make sense that he would be much more productive if he was working less, but I guess that depends on the workplace.. He's working in a office where he has to carefuly think about what he's doing, but if you're for example working in some "slave" electronics manufactring factory you basically do the same thing over and over without even thinking about it, so the productivity stays the same unless you're really tired..
So yeah, I'd say that even if overworking is the "culture" of Asian countries, it still would be much more profitable for a company like this to make their employees rest more. Doing this is just stupid and it probably makes the entire company much less profitable.

@jonasx10j as with many other things, the older groups will always refuse to let go of stupid traditions, even in the face of objective fact, especially given how Asian societies center themselves so much around the system rather than the individual, it'll take a while for them to grow out of this destructive cultural behavior
