It's clearly labeled ch 70 not ch 58
If you’re not actively thinking about which was the latest chapter and see a new entry on your follows you just click it. Idk, a page at the start to warn people that you’re actively skipping chapters wouldn’t kill anyone

Mostly cause it’s the og scan group is hording chapters. The translations are liberties at best and don’t want better groups to take over. The only way to beat horders is to just start and get ahead of them.
A better strategy would be to… release the next episode so you cut them off and force them to release.
Skipping chapters benefits literally no one

someone did that, and guess what happened, they released 3 chapters within 2 days to push them down.

I've publicly stated that I find scanlator wars hilarious, but this is past popcorn-hilarious into fireworks territory.

If you're going to work on a series, start from the beginning so that you don't literally look like a jackass. Starting from the start lets you have your releases alongside the established ones as well as gives you time and room to compare without copying.

Thinking they are hoarding chapters is beyond ridiculous. No one's hoarding anything.

People are translating, cleaning and editing in their free time and what usually happens when a scan war breaks out is that each group sacrifices more of their free time to crunch and get the chapter out faster.

Faster releases usually means the quality suffers from that. But some here probably wouldn't care about that as long as they get their next chapter fix, so whatever.

The only time I'd ever approve of a snipe is if the release is better and faster, and in this case it's neither, as they just jumped ahead several chapters needlessly, and when called out for it showed an incredibly immature response.

I have a wild idea: Indeed start with the latest raw chapter and work backwards from there BUT put up 2-3 spoiler warning pages.

Ok. I blocked them.
So why are they still appearing for me, able to reply to me, and I can still see them?

That means it worked! It forced the team to release. If that’s really what you want then that’s the way to go.
3 episode release seems like a win to the community

No, it's just shitty behavior. Again, no one is hoarding anything. You might have a point if they had set up paywalls behind chapters or asked for donations, but this is clearly not the case. Sniping active series of groups that deliver good quality releases with half-assed releases is just spitting on their efforts.

Some groups may engage in the scan war then because they genuinely want to keep working on the series, but it happens just as often that they drop the series entirely because the motivation goes down drastically.

This series gets regular releases and looking at the schedule for the official release, you would get a volume every five months. Or in other words, if you are unlucky, the sniper also loses their motivation quickly and then you may have to wait years to see how it continues. There is no good reason here to snipe.

Don’t get me wrong, I disapprove of sniping generally. What I’m saying is that, if their intention really was to help the community because the other group is hoarding or whatever, releasing ch70 makes absolutely no sense. It not only harms the scanlation community, but also hurts the readers, it benefits no one.

The only reason I see to do it is to spite everyone, and I guess they accomplished that

Man, this dude isn't just an ass, they're trying to farm this for engagement and it's actually working.

Shameful, no honor and no skill, just ragebating through low-quality scans and sniping.
