I like that these unexpected things happen. Things that she cannot foresee, predict, and get confused by. As she should. Just because she has knowledge of the future doesn't mean that she knows every little thing. People can be predicted, but there are times when they can surprise you and do things you never expected. LIke hardened criminals suddenly having a moment of camaraderie or in this case, assholes that you never want to talk to suddenly showing a kinder side to them.

Ren's an asshole to everyone at the academy, no exception. If they anger him or arouse his suspicions, he'll relentlessly pursue and harass them until he's satisfied. Because of this, all the students avoid him as much as possible. Iirc it's implied this is Ren's way of taking out his anger issues re. his hatred of the grand duke and his family's servitude to them.
