I've been longing for an Emilyko chapter for quite some time. She gets a bit lost in the crowd with so many characters. This was really cute!

I love the way the chapter title is Starry Night. Despite there being no stars in the sky in the chapter, Shaun really did see the stars that night. So cute! Emilyko x Shaun has been a low key ship for us since they've been pretty close from the beginning and there have been a few ship crumbs in the story. At first it was sorta explained with Shaun having a lot of younger siblings and naturally being in a caretaker role makes him think of his younger sister when he's with Emilyko. But there was still something about their moments that felt like there could still be something more... I'm so giddy that it may actually be going somewhere with Shaun.

Shaun, if Emilyko thinks she can't be with you all after this because she's an outsider... just turn her into a part of your family permanently! 😘

sidenote: did anyone else vague death flag vibes from that convo LOL. like, Emilyko thinks she has the least going for her and to live for, so she may try to sacrifice herself so she feels like she was useful and served a purpose for Kate? Kate, let alone Ricky, Shaun, John, Lou, Ram, and Patrick would never let that happen at least. I understand why she feels like a fraud, but I hope she realizes she got where she was and made so many lovely friends through her own choices and being her sweet self. She's very loved and admired.

Really!!! Boys should initiate the kiss. We have a real moral reversal in this era!!

It's been a while since we've got Emilyko focus, so this is a great nostalgic callback.

While it's questionable if Emilyko had any romantic feelings in that kiss on the cheek, it was at the very least a good night kiss, a charm for Shaun to get some needed rest.

For the unacquainted, Mudlarks were an actual historical thing in around 19th Century London.

While I seriously doubt Emilyko will part ways with the cast forever and embark on her own solo journey at story's end (and preferably not in death's embrace), I do wonder what Somato-sensei hoped to achieve narratively by bringing up even more of her miserable past, now of all times?

I think there's two key points they want to get across:

1. Emilyko feels blessed throughout everything. Circus life was tough, but she got to live like a human; the Shadows House is a false promise and she got brainwashed, but she also got to learn to read and write and make so many good friends. She's such a good girl.
2. While Emilyko feels guilty about only receiving blessings and could cause inconvenience down the line, I feel that what she really yearns to do is to give back blessings of her own in some way.

I still have my personal thoughts on what the terminus for Emilyko's character arc will be, and I think it's only gotten more likely that this terminus will be where she passes on her blessing...

One thing's for sure: Somato-sensei have not forgotten our dear Super Living Doll; therefore, our star acrobat will definitely get to shine in the finale!
