I really dislike how the author added an additional hurdle to the hero team.

It makes the world less lively (it shows that the MCs are so powerful in regards to the world they need additional constraints against other professionals)

And it makes the future fights less interesting (because whatever the outcome, it'll be close. So we already know that the opponents aren't a real problem in themselves)

I see it more as Michael Bay throwing your protags into the deepest, darkest, shittiest hole they ever been, and then roll them around inside with mud and cover the hole back with refined salt cubes. Also add a giant death mech to guard the hole because why not.
