i know what im saying is going to be confusing if your relying on this website for updates but reading up to chapter 138 leaves me pretty annoyed how people are pretending this game is balanced and i want to rant about it.

the badguy's only power is summoning bombs, and she cant even set them off in an order she pleases she has to set them off in the order they were summoned and when somone with enough brains to make use of such a character becomes successful what do people start talking about? "oh that strategy is going to get nerfed" WHY!? the opponent shes fighting in 138 can move so fast she doesnt have time to set off a bomb she is already holding even though her opponent is saving a child below her, literal brainless movement speed ftw and everyone is talking about the amount of control she must need to be able to pull that off when its pretty clear the characters are miles away in power capabilities

in other words "obsessive compulsive girl with bombs takes on 'the flash' who was buffed to be able to bounce off buildings, but dont worry the girl will be nerfed" like, come on!

Well now, this is a massive failur of translations, where the hell are the volumes between volume 3 to 10 in english? its like the translator got lazy or striked or something. well I'll answer this I dunno if the link is allowed or not but https://mangakomi.io/manga/shangri-la-frontier-kusoge-hunter-kamige-ni-idoman-to-su/chapter-14/ this is where I found the rest of the english chapters hope this helps people finish the volume
Every other site is upto date, i found raw till ch. 157 and translated till 156 4 days back... But this site with one of the biggest base is not able to find english translators. On top of that, it's not some underrated manga which is not popular. Sad.

It started strong and fun, but yeah it quickly follows most videogame-based series: this isn't the series where you die in game you die in real life, so there's no gravitas since the players are never in "real" danger since it's a freaking video game. And the main protagonist quickly becomes OP, but at least he relies more on skills rather than stats.
  • The art is decent to good. Nothing really fanservicey.
  • I'm intrigued with "self-aware" NPCs (like with most of the NPCs in Nazarick from Overlord) like the rabbit NPCs. Are they "real" or just AI? Apparently, the NPCs can die permanently here so ironically this made them much more interesting than the player characters and it sets up some possible drama in the future especially with the best bunny girl.
  • The story is... well it's an MMORPG story. Videogame and multiplayer shenanigans with taking out the superbosses. Perhaps there's some actual magic or future technology that's the "truth", but it doesn't seem that way to me as soon as I saw the game company corpo. I am quickly getting bored since I don't think the story will get any deeper than "just" an MMORPG.
Even with all the problems, I'd still recommend this over Slime Isekai and Overlord. I did drop it at chapter 79 though...

Wish the scanlators uploaded here too. Gotta go to other sites to get anything after ch132.
I don't think any Scanlator is working on this Series now, because it's getting Official Simulcast.
And Mangadex (unlike some other Sites) doesn't allow the upload of Official translations here (they only link the ones which are available for free).

Got up to ch.167. They're continuing the main story after that side arc unrelated to Shangri-La Frontier.

A story doesn't have to be a deathgame to have stakes. The Wezaemon arc is explicitly the only shot they're going to get at this. And there's no do-overs in a live exhibition match. Yeah, no-one dies if they lose, but that means that the characters can lose, without the story ending. In a story where if-you-die-in-the-game-you-die-in-real-life the protagonist will always have plot armor, and you can generally predict that named characters won't lose unless the story is being edgy.

Sometimes lower stakes means there's actually a chance the protagonists will lose. And I think that makes it more exciting.

... it's not here guess why.

It got IP protection in alot of countrys now, that the anime is out. Mangadex doesn't allow stuff on here when the original is avaible outside and they might get an letter from a lawyer, together with the group thats doing the fan translation.

Some publishers are fine with it ... some are going at it hard. Ya know whats what when ya check which mangas still get updated here and whatnot.

Oh, it's another video game manga written by someone that doesn't play video games.

M-muh tripple g A y!
Natural Doctrine comes to mind.

The Elder Scrolls Skyrim too.

Disgaea 5 too, the graphics are too behind the times, 40 years behind.
