Communication in a relationship... I guess she never heard of that term before. Talk about your problems before breaking up over them, for Pete's sake. :(

I'm halfway into her perspective. Being alone was fun and felt free, but I was often depressed. I hoped a relationship would help with that. In a way it has. But I do miss my alone time and even the melancholy that came with it. I wonder, as this relationship goes on, if I'll lose more and more of that time, and become like her...

No warning about it, but just a simple breakup? Not even talking out the problem? Really? That's the dickest move you can do with your partner. There are plenty of relationships where both people agree on some alone time, what's the difficulty of talking it out?

Sorry for replying to a comment 5 years old. I don't think talking it out would've helped. She was got the ick from living with another person. She literally couldn't handle his presence. How do you tell your partner that them refilling shampoo, getting an amazon delivery or sleeping on the same bed is suffocating? The vast majority of people wouldn't give her the benefit of the doubt of meaning exactly what she meant with no ill intentions. Most would take it as "She very clearly hates me".

I side with your comment. It's somewhat difficult for some people to understand this concept. I was in few relationships, and never really felt happy in any of them.
As cheesy as it may sound, ultimately - being like this gives some sort of freedom, which might be incomprehensible by others.
I'm happy as I'm, and that's all I need
