Maya could have been a nice old lady sure, but there are tons of people around. The others around could have been much more evil people. Whatever the case, the Regis Network had Kurumi's information. Someone would have eventually become suspicious of her. I'm sad we didn't get to resolve the mystery of the skeleton first, though.

From what I understand, she currently pretty much has the mentality of a child. Not all children a wary of others by default, unless they know they have a reason to be.

From upto this chapter, i guess the note was indeed from the mc's past memories when she saw sayaka killed the dead body under the tree and then the mc wrote that note out of fear. But sayaka is actually indeed a very good person to protect the mc all the time. And the thing with her loss memory is to prevent the mc to get panic attack I guess because she is the only one being hunted and her mental state is crumbling down. The lies sayaka told is filled with truth supposedly but when she looked away at the mc its when she felt stressed of course. Doing the same thing everyday would make her stressful

Kurumi assumes all the people walking the streets of that city are Familie graduates. Given that the world looks pretty similar to what it does now, Familie was probably not the last bastion of human civilization but some kind of secret science cult.

And Sayaka is possibly not that bad either... The dead body might have been someone like Maya. And yeah Sayaka probably just told Kurumi those lies (and as other people pointed out, gave her mempry loss) to protect her. In that case are they both on the run from familie?

Also I think that Kurumi believes that the only way to get to the outside world is to graduate familie (For EVERY person). So she assumes everyone in the outside world graduated familie. So she assumes no people are born outside of familie?... idk idk
