I feel bad for the other girls who are constantly compared to Shen Yu. She has the mind of a 29 year old woman so of course she is way more capable and mature than they are.

Translator is off about the candles. While both candles have aphrodisiac mixed in to be released while the candle is burning the amount is different. The candles the fourth daughter's concubine mother has are the normal dosage which will cause those who inhale it to get very aroused, maybe a little less guarded and disinclined to think, but not so much a person's life is threatened or completely lose all rational thought. The candle used on MC by Chenyu was made by her departed maid with the drug from Miss Bu with a much stronger dosage to incapacitate and kill MC along with causing the candle to break after burning for a certain amount of time and fall towards the curtains to set them on fire. As translator said Wangchuan found out about it and returned the favor. If the candles were the same Feng would be out for at least a couple days and in no shape to travel after Concubine Hand used the candle. Also, MC wouldn't have been bedridden for five days and almost killed by it. This is explained as it happens in LN but is one of the many important little things that got chopped out of the manga for some reason. Also, that Fourth Daughter's Concubine Mother is afraid that her daughter will beat her to death if doesn't succeed, and even was knocked out for over a day due to a previous beating resulting in the snide comments and acting like she's a little unhinged due to the brain damage and stress/shock from being beaten by own daughter. It's not helping that Fourth daughter has inherited father's tendency to believe that favorable longshots will definitely come true while ignoring reality and glossing over obstacles. That and the strange fact that a concubine mother has less status and position than her daughter with the head of the family so while can advise daughter, can't stop or disobey the daughter.
In any case, Feng really foolish to side with 3rd prince. Keeps reading his hopes as facts and ignoring the reality. If had really been paying attention would notice that MC getting a lot of things that would become the 9th prince's after they married while the 3rd prince has been getting the minimum favor due to his position and no praise from the emperor ever.

Will come up later but 3rd prince isn't the emperor's son and emperor knows it. Apparently 3rd prince's mother had gotten pregnant a week or two before marrying emperor. Emperor noticed 3rd prince seemed a little too normal and healthy for being born prematurely and that as 3rd prince grew up he didn't resemble the emperor or his mother. Emperor had things discretely investigated and found out had been cuckolded before the marriage. Not sure if did anything to the real father but think exiled 3rd prince's mother to the coldest, worst residence in the palace and that she can't leave it without permission which never got. As for 3rd prince did minimum expectations and never praised or showed favor towards. Never said truth because he would lose face if people found out he'd been raising the son of another man from a concubine who'd dishonored him even before they married.
