Too much stuff was skipped over. None of MC's interactions with the girls were shown (actually I think they were suppose to be with MC in prince's restaurant but got cut out for some reason.) Fact she had the smarter slaves studying medicine at a remote location was left out too which was reason why she made a medical manual herself to further educate them.
@DonGiovanni The servant is MC's mother's (Lady Yao) wet nurse. Think name was Nanny Li? She was the woman who went to collect them from their exile in the mountains. Because her daughter is the fourth concubine of a member of the Shen family she wasn't chased out by Shenshi like the other servants loyal or favoring Lady Yao and was the one who put the voodoo doll in MC's room while MC was watching from the shadows. While love and care for Lady Yao, Li betrayed her to protect her daughter. The Shen family would kill her because she's a loose end who could tell somebody all the things they ordered her to do. Basically she's a servant who can disappear without raising a fuss, is no longer useful to the Shen family and now more of a liability for knowing too much. Not sure if daughter ever knew was being held hostage or will be done in or not now that Li has left the Feng residence.
