Whenever I lose hope in the initial hook that's supposed to grab an audience, I end up feeling underwhelmed if I continue. If you're near that point, don't regret spending more time on this.

It's true the main draw of this hook is conflicts around Sherbet's mental language barrier. I mean her untrustworthy thought process including her thirst, not that she's Bavarian. The characters are much more than that, but they're not going to stop being "dumb", horny, and angry when those are prominent traits.
