There's sneaking an attack in to remind someone that real life isn't a controlled trial and then there's knocking someone down with a sneak attack and then pulling out your sword.
Seriously if this inferiority complex loser ain't dead in 3-5 chapters or at least has a mark out on him for it not sure I care to see where this is going anymore.
MC continues to be a dumbass for even considering to join the knights who solely exist to kill demons and apparently mages.
You know just the things two of the most important people in his life happen to be.

The dude's right. From the very start it was clear he didn't think highly of her naivete and this was not a selection exam. This was a practical lesson. Dedicating your life fighting monsters isn't all fun and games. Drill sergeants in real armies would actually try to make you quit despite what the army recruiters tell you about how the country needs you or whatever.

So much hate on this knight dude. Sure, he's a little edgy, but he's not wrong.

And considering that Tina was original fated to die before the time rewind, it fits the tone of the manga better than "oh, you restrained a couple knights after having all possible prep-time in laboratory conditions, let's train you for real war".

Also, even if Eric comes across this situation, what do you think he'll actually do? Refuse to join the knights because knight dude held a sword to his sister? Nope. If anything, he'll be mad that Tina wants to follow him somewhere dangerous. He knows he's lacking right now, and the knights is the first place for him to grow. Maybe he'll change his mind and decide if Tina can get stronger, he'll worry less, but it would be completely out of character for him to rage at knight dude for teaching her the reality of battle.

ha... he is just teaching her something that would avoid her dying or becoming a CD if she fails a mission

Lmao @ these guys who don't get it. It's not easy standing on the battlefield, though I wouldn't know. You all hating on the knight just because he's playing a little rough with the heroine just means that you don't understand what type of character he is being portrayed as.

I do like how he's being with her. I mean, she wants to follow the MC while thinking lightly of the "knights" occupation? Yeah, that's a good way to get yourself killed.

His take is the most realistic the mangaka could ever bring, the battlefield isn't an easy place. Saying "I wasn't prepared" or "you didn't warn" just show how naive she is, or enemies won't wait for you to prepare yourself.

Yeah, she’s way too naive to be on bloody battlefields. Though backline support can still work

1st. Why join them? They are demon hunters and MC loves their fucking princess..
they aren't? where did you read that?
afaik they are knights of a country that borders the demon region, i don't know how that exactly equates to demon hunters? correct me if i'm wrong.

2nd. Condition was to defeat 2 of them. It was him who attracted out of nowhere. Fighting experience won't help you with fucking betrayal.
that's true and can't be defended,
but the knight commander dude lets her go another round in a fair fight and Tina still gets floored even if she had an advantage.

3rd. Antagonizing great mage who is going to join you is retard move.
knight commander dude acknowledges that Tinas firepower is good enough for the knight order, but her casting speed needs some work.

how do you know that she will turn out to be some big shot mage?
from the knight commanders perspective Tina is a promising new recruit, but the knight order has enough mages that are better in real fight.
it would be really strange if the commander treats her like the next messiah of magic right now.

Why plot turned so stupid.... I loved this manga at some point, not it became your average 4/10 manga.
from all your complains only the betrayal part is understandable, at least for me.
if the rest of the story turns out to be stupid remains to be seen,
but i can agree that this manga is pretty average with nothing really standing out.

maybe somewhat on a sidenote:
many authors deliver a very promising start (that's why they get published in the first place), but fail to deliver on continued story telling/world building/etc.
how many times have you read something just to think at some point "this had so much potential" ?

IMO everything after the initial setup would decide if this manga turns out be be shit or not.
and the intial setup is now over for this story.

The test is ok, he did say (paraphrase because I'm lazy) "it'll be over once I say it's over regardless of the outcome".
However, that knight really seems like what's regularly called as a highly functional psychopath.
