@Psychronia The prospect of what marriage entails certainly can be scary, as with any other major decision in life, especially if divorce is frowned upon or if there are certain expectations around it in a particular culture/society/family. There's a lot of responsibility and uncertainty involved, but as many others have already mentioned having the right partner helps make it easier but potentially more complex. Happiness, however, is something one needs to figure out for themselves, and other people can be a part of that experience. Marriage exists as an entity that can overlap, but is not solely contained within the space of happiness.
People get married for all sorts of reasons, and sometimes even with the right ones it doesn't always work out. It's also not for everyone. But if one does seek it, it does come down to time, effort, and trust. And also the courage to step forward together with someone into an uncertain future.
