Once again, a very well executed reveal of her past. It highlighted how she reached this point while perfectly illustrating how hard it was for her to make the decisions she made. It also eliminated some of the harsh criticisms that have been directed towards Connie, such as the complaints about how she didn't look for her mother or that she didn't care about her disappearance (Which even at the time felt nonsensical).
Overall, this whole chapter was a necessary exploration of Connie's character and past. And it encapsulated how much of a tragedy the mother's disappearance and the dad's lose of his powers were for everyone.
But now the flashback is over, and I hope the finale for the fight keeps getting better. Wish that she keeps some of the broconess by the end, though.
Oh, and thx for the chapter fellas!

Note that the bangles stop Lavi from progressing beyond floor thirty, the same floor connie is shown getting stonewalled at.

She made sure he couldn't go deeper than she did. That he would never get "better" than her. Just like how they kept him "weak and needing protecting"

Beat that siscon's ass, Lavi!

Sheesh, she was violent from such a young age and already prejudiced against people according to their power levels.
She had the power to stop the bullying around her, but her flashback showed she only saw that as the natural order of the world and didn't try to interfere, instead she brought a halberd to the school so she could beat up her classmates!

The flashback did make me sympathize with her situation, but not with her. She is still a monster that needs to be stopped, and she put the curse on Lavi to keep him weak forever because she didn't want him leaving the nest for her own sake. She isn't using her tremendous power to help the world, she is using them to keep people who want to grow stronger down.

That's actually pretty neat. The reason why those bangles restrict Lavi from going past the 30th floor is because that's how far Connie has gotten on her own. She seems to think that whatever's past that is too strong for even her to accomplish, so even if Lavi got that far by sheer luck, there's no way she'd let him face something that's potentially more dangerous than her, and that really says a lot from what we've seen so far.

I like how this flashback answered that question along with others we've had about her up to now, and yeah, while I can sympathize with her situation, that's no excuse to forcibly decide her brother's future. No matter how much she tries to keeps him locked in, that has to come to a stop sooner or later.

I just don't care. Fuck her, fuck her motivations, fuck her hangups. I am tired of her existance and want her to be removed as an obstacle. Kill her, befriend her, I don't fucking care. The sooner we get back to Lavi and Merchant-san hijinks the better.

This arc is this manga's Namek. The planet will explode in 20 episodes.

I was worried they were going to try to make me empathize and feel bad for her. Looks like my worry was unfounded, because if that was the point, it failed spectacularly and I am more than ready to watch Lavi beat her despicable ass down.
I mean, I feel bad for her, in the sense that it is depressing she didn't ever find anyone to depend on, and worse than that, took a failure FOR THAT EXACT REASON while still extremely young and missed the reason entirely, ended up traumatized right afterwards and now she's so profoundly entrenched into her worldview she can't stand (I imagine subconsciously) how Lavi is destroying all of it.

Like, she deserves my pity, not my sympathy. She took the worst lessons possible from everything that happened to her. Even if you could debate the adults in her life should have tried to help her deal with it better. Her father was in a similar emotional hole so I can kinda give him a pass, and the shopkeeper... definitely has some blame from not trying to talk to her through her emotional distress in a more productive manner, instead putting a massive amount on pressure on her. But she still is the one that decided that pushing Lavi into becoming a laughing stock, and not trying to build him up instead, was the best decision: fuck her for that.

I hope that Levi get to defeat his sister at her best power.
And while it shows that his sister did try to find her mother but gave that up to keep her family safe. It is not justifying her vile abusive behaviour towards Levi.

Also that suit just ruined the cool whole sequence a tad bit. Let's hope that it does not end up ruining the fight.
