I don't think in the entire history of manga, there has been even one example case of a series completing the main goal and the manga hastily sets up some new goal in order to keep going that wasn't eluded to at all previously to, which then actually turned out to be good.

History and much, much experience has taught me that the moment a series expands the scope because the author wants a paycheck still: BAIL, get the fuck out and never look back.

Probably because part of her plan relies on Philo to some extent, apparently. So pressuring Philo for w/e it is she needs out of her acting in desperation (which is what I took from her taking an interest in Philo while she was producing items to give Lavi that one time) seems valid.

I don't think you guys quite understood what I mean or haven't properly encountered it before.

I'm talking about a goal that the very foundational bedrock of the entire story was built on since minute one. Not minor or even major goals with obvious continuation points after that, I'm talking about things on the level of say "Monkey D. Luffy finds the One Piece, becomes the pirate king, overthrows the world government, and then suddenly find out that the four seas and grand line are only 1% of the world's surface really and now there's a 'world world government' and a real, much better One Piece to find.", that sort of thing.

When the author presents a specific big goal as being everything, the MC achieves it, and then the author doubles or more the previous goal to keep things going while simultaneously cheapening what the MC's already done. Goal inflation.
