Serious answer?I wonder what the lifespan of an elf who‘s also a chronic smoker is?
She doesn't seem to be smoking cigarette's but Cigars instead. And I don't think there's any research on people that smoke as many as she does. I don't think there even are people like thatSerious answer?
Since she always has a cig in hand she probably goes through 5~6 packs equivalent a day (which I would say is incredibly insane). Assuming she ages like a human, just proportionally greater and is susceptible to the same health problems, I'd say at best she's looking at half her normal life span, and most of the latter half in really poor health.
I mean, I knew someone who used to smoke 3 packs per day (cigarettes not cigars), so I do think it's within the realm of possibility that there are people who smoke 5 packs per day. Though maybe smoking cigars differs a lot from cigarettes and there aren't people like that? I don't smoke so idk the differences tbh.She doesn't seem to be smoking cigarette's but Cigars instead. well I think if she is smoking this many Cigars then its even worse because they are bigger and they don't have a filter, so her lifespan would shorten even moreShe doesn't seem to be smoking cigarette's but Cigars instead. There are certainly people who smoke this much. I personally have known people who have gone through 3~4 packs a day, and anecdotally it's not hard to find people who do more. She doesn't seem to be smoking cigarette's but Cigars instead. You should see the ramblings over at plebbit about slavery.Great talk about cigars and smokes, I want some candy.

They are certainly the minority, but the real reason there isn't much research because it's known that even taking 10~20 cigs a day already severely debilitates most people's health and lifespans. So what's the point of finding out what happens when someone does 5~10 times that?
It's easier to factor how it affects her life expectancy in terms of cigarettes regardless. Cigars are arguably less harmful than cigarettes, but they can also be smoked for a much longer time, like hours. An average user does only about 0.5~2 a day. She looks like she does maybe 5~6 a day, if not more. Cigar chain smokers are not well researched, but average users are known to face health issues and life expectancy loss noticeably less, but not significantly so, compared to average cigarette smokers. Reasonably you can expect a similar increase in health deterioration for a heavy cigar smoker. I still say she loses up to half her lifespan.
Maybe the real question is, even with extreme environmental factors like smoking....do Elves get cancer or heart disease? In which case, she'd probably live longer. But still not to her full lifespan or at least not in good health. Eventually, there will be mechanical causes of health complications and death like tar accumulation.

If I recall correctly, cigar smokers are more prone to lip and tongue cancer than lung cancer precisely because they don't inhale.Half of my friends smoke cigars.
I don't know anyone who inhales them, as it's generally an oral only experience with cigars and pipe tobacco.
Usually they're a more simple and cleaner product as well.
That's why a session can sometimes last over an hour and you don't get sick from the nicotine as easy.

Yep, the increased mortality is mainly due to different complications than cigarettes. That doesn't mean it doesn't impact life expectancy. There is indeed research on cigar smokers, and it's not very positive. If I recall correctly, cigar smokers are more prone to lip and tongue cancer than lung cancer precisely because they don't inhale.
Tolkien elves are immortal and immune to illness (which I assume also would include cancer). They can still die from injuries, such as from accidents and battle. I would assume they could also starve to death or die of dehydration.
