Yes, and no. Original probably use "miko", which is "priestess". But they are entirely different from priests, aka different occupation.

Also, it can be possible to claim originally "only female" title as a male, if clan dying out without proper inheritor, so they wouldn't have any other choice.

It's indeed the issue with translation, since in Japanese it's not so evident, but it's not so simple as switching priestess to the male counterpart. Title akin of "blessed one" would be more accurate.

The raw does indeed use the word "miko" (巫女), but it can't really be translated to anything else in English that would make it gender-neutral. The word has 女 in it and it means "woman".

There are difference. As i said before, woman title could be very well given to male in rare occasions.

I mean - yeah, uncle is an idiot, but if he would be the last living relative of this clan, he might have been able to claim a title. And he would most probably be called miko as well (despite having "woman" character in it).
That said, that's definitely impossible while daughter of the previous miko still alive, so I'm surprised that he didn't plot to kill her first. Well, not really surprised, he is deranged lunatic at this point.

Man I just hate that all the villains are just literally stupid, incompetent and forgettable. There is almost no build up, almost no confrontation and almost no development, it is just sad what the generic isekai trend has done to some authors (well, can't say if they were the same before, but I doubt it)
