No that attack did happen and there's indeed a trespasser in that house but this? It just seems a little weird. Idk man, I just feel like there's gonna be a twist here. The mc isn't quite stable mentally. She found a kid that's technically abandoned by his mother. So she turned him into a surrogate for her miscarriaged baby. Maybe Hiwako is just a corpse. So many angles to go from here.

Well they did give her raw meat? through like a funnel in previous chapters so you'd think she'd be not starving but maybe her eyes being shut/seeing the nurse triggered it

it's a shame she didn't attack the 'bitchy' nurse but it makes sense she'd also attack to protag too lol

Well there is a supernatural tag, unless the daughter got a kick out of making nurses take care of a “corpse” I’d think if the nurses were in on it they wouldn’t bother and just chill as like overpaid/glorified house sitters

Tho I’d imagine actual pension thieves would just simply bury a body if not just turn in the checks and leave

It describes her as "protecting the roost" (page 36, tagline on the left) so maybe she's some kinda bird yokai unless 'roosts' are associated with something else/just a metaphor for her living space
