Pretty sure just as Otaku was originally a derogatory term in Japan that just got absorbed and turned into a somewhat "accepted" title, the same can be said for Weeb/Weeaboo, hell even Degenerate is becoming a title people are proud to be called... the real derogatory term currently is "Tourists".
Nah, most people I know who are into anime/manga just say they're into anime/manga, and still use weeb with all the vitriol and hatred the term was originally created with, though I guess that could be regional now? There's light-hearted joking use of the term of course, but nobody I know actively identifies with it and its still seen as a negative term. I've literally never seen someone use 'degenerate' proudly, nor have I heard the term 'tourist' used negatively.

It's the total reverse in my case Weeb and Degenerate are pretty much neutral and lost the negative connotations. The Tourist one is mainly used for people that are seemingly new to anime/manga but somehow wants the most "changes" to it.

Honestly kinda find it curious since a lot of the big names in the ACG(not even sure how many people actually know/use this acronym) community are self-proclaimed weeb/degenerate hence those 2 losing it's negative connotations.

"Yuuki"

"Izumi Yuuki"

Miyako and Yuuki. That's nice. Just when I thought this manga didn't have any surprises left to give. I am, in fact, surprised. That after all this time I thought Izumi's name was just Yuu (it's a legit first name, not a nickname like Micchon was) but it wasn't. It's a good name too, yuuki as a a word can also mean "courage" (勇気); although Yuuki probably has different kanji for his name.

Was that a marriage proposal? Well, it is now, in my book.
So I can assume they're on first-name basis now, right?
Now, go surprise everyone back home with it!

You use the word "weeb" on a MANGA site?

That's like going to a Star Wars convention and calling everyone scifi nerds.

You are aware you, me and all of us here count as "weebs" in the views of the world right?

I for one am a "weeb" and proud of it, no shame in it.

Not sure why you feel the need to use the weeb label to distance yourself from your hobby as if you are ashamed of it.
LOL its jokes man, I'm a pretty massive weeb myself (if my pfp didn't make it obvious)
