That would be probable if the demons in this story had a flexible mindset as a race of humanoids. The author however made it that the demons have a nature antagonistic to that of humans, i.e. they will kill/exploit the humans because it’s simply part of their nature.
Sigh, we've gone over this problem many chapters back, from the early chapters even. In this manga demons are pests, just because they look appealing they're still the bad ones.
Go read something else if you want to sympathize with demons, there's tons of them.
The thing is that even in the oast the demons just did act like destroying and did and do many bad things. Honestly speaking, how they behave it is no wonder that the MC kills them when he can. After the world blew up they could have used the time to improve the situation but all what they did was bad things. The only reason they didnt kill every human, is because they are far too few in numbers because of the past and lower birthrate.
These demons cant complain about the way they are treated. The Mc isnt even pretending to be that much about them either. He just kills them because they do bad things everywhere. We didnt saw him encountering a single demon who isnt bad. Just look at Iris. The dragons in the past declared war and attacked Gaia/Matty and got killed. Iris didnt fight him and wasnt attacked/killed. After spending time with her, she is even a friend now. That clearly shows that he isnt indiscriminately killing everything.
@LoupDeGarou That's not evil, that's propaganda and perception of evil. That's like saying that whether something is hot or cold is a matter of perspective. If someone's frozen and someone's on fire, hot and cold are happening. If people are getting harmed, evil is happening. You may not care that the evil is happening because it's happening to some other jerks, but it's still happening.
Terry Pratchett quote for you -
“There’s no greys, only white that’s got grubby. I’m surprised you don’t know that. And sin, young man, is when you treat people as things. Including yourself. That’s what sin is.’
‘It’s a lot more complicated than that -’
‘No. It ain’t. When people say things are a lot more complicated than that, they means they’re getting worried that they won’t like the truth. People as things, that’s where it starts.”
― Terry Pratchett, Carpe Jugulum
@Dragou Until she decides she doesn't want to be his slave transport, sure. The fact that he killed every single other dragon that attacked him is kind of significant as well.
@noobtube2 And that just sounds like bad writing or a bad justification. For one, people have instincts we don't always act on. I don't go around humping random chair legs whenever I'm horny. Never mind the fact that an "instinct to kill humans" is specific to the point of absurdity, it's also apparently not a very strong instinct since demons seem perfectly capable of not killing humans while they run human societies from the shadows. Also what Charkan said.
And yes, these demons are doing a bad and a portion of whoopass is called for but they're also apparently capable of showing concern for a girl who trips? Don't humanize them like that if you want them to be irredeemable evilbadguys.
TLDR - It's war. People are going to be doing bad things to each-other. But what you absolutely do not want to do in a war is to have a "with extreme prejudice take-no-prisoners" approach. That just drives people into a corner and convinces them that their only path to survival is fighting you to the death until you end up wondering why you're wading in a mountain of dragon corpses.
Lmao, Idk why y'all are trying to act like you'd spare their lives if you were in their positions. Its a war in a fantasy world. If you spare them, you'll get stabbed in the back. Its kill or be killed. If someone tries to kill/manipulate you or w/e you don't just let it happen.
If you dont like that idea, idek why you're reading this type of manga.
@Kanol Lmao are you serious? The MC is "no better" than the demons?
The demons have manipulated history to suppress the entire human species, deliberately sabotaged magic and magical knowledge, have effectively enslaved most of humanity from behind the scenes, are responsible for numerous genocides both past and present, show not one solitary shred of remorse for anything they've EVER done, and if the flashbacks to the past are to be believed, they've ALWAYS been like this. Just in this chapter alone, they've been caught red-handed BUILDING NUKES. The only possible target for which would be unsuspecting human kingdoms that are still somewhere between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance in terms of technology, and have literally no defense against having a Tsar-Bomba level nuclear warhead dropped on them.
Not that the demons even NEED nukes, when they can create swarms of unstoppable supermonsters with a few magic crystals buried in the ground. Monsters that have only been thwarted because of out-of-context knowledge and the direct intervention of what amounts to Merlin himself.
But because the MC kills them back, and also shows no remorse for doing it, he's no better?
@KazutoKatsuragi
There's too many people here with a "Kouki" mindset, so don't bother arguing with them. Even Hajime wasn't able to fix that kind of mindset in the whole duation of Arifureta. Just laugh at them that when a real WW3 happens this bunch will be the first to die.
