Light Novel 8 dropped in English earlier this year, we're basically coming to the end of Light Novel 2.

Basically

Spoiler: a smattering of general happenings

some slow life stuff, some vacationing, some adventuring and solving national problems.

and then in Volume 8 we find out

that the system is operating exactly the way that the god in charge of it wants it to function, and we also meet someone who has been granted the Divine Protection of the Hero, who has decided to lean into that (and the potential is terrifying), has a character trying to function as Guide who is not doing nearly as well as Gideon did in the role, and it's looking like things are going to start jumping rails soon.

but we're probably well off from reaching that in the manga.
