I feel like from all five previous chapters there's always one plot thread that get dropped immediately in the new chapter. I don't dislike episodic approach, but it's quite jarring that each of them has somewhat serious tone without proper conclusion, or even some hint that it'll continue. That said the art is consistently good however

@zeiyan yes, the mage decided it all on his own but he made a clone of Ruti to make him think that she decided on it as well.. and because he didn't want to hinder his sister and burden them in any way, he left without saying anything to the others. Ruti knows what the mage did but as a hero, she has a responsibility of staying strong even if it means leaving his brother which she badly needs. You could drop reading this manga, not much would change.

@Chet31 : Will re-reading Chapters 1-15 make me feel he's a better brother? I'm not saying he's a bad person. I'm saying he's not a good brother. And the fact that he made her a promise in the past that [if there's ever a time you think "I don't want to do this," tell me anytime. I'll do it in your place] and just left her makes me feel like he totally doesn't understand his sister at all.

When Ares said he was holding them back. He makes a weak argument and then quits. He could chose not to fight in the front line and be in a support role, that way he won't be in the way. But no instead he leaves without a word. Is going MIA on your family member a normal thing to do? He left his sister to these comrades. Granted most of them are pretty good people. But the guy, he thinks his sister likes/loves is total useless scum. He didn't even ask her about it and left her with this useless piece of crap.

Ghosting a boy/girlfriend, is a dick move but alright...just disappearing on your sister is something else all together. A sister that even if she desired deeply to chase after you, will be forced by her hero status to keep moving towards the Demon King. That's just beyond dick move...

@Meo I said 1 and 15, not all the stuff in between, but I meant 1 and 17, which I knew cause I looked it up but miss typed, thought 15 looked better, something or the other. The biggest point being was that he didn't want to fake his death and if she could kill/do everything on her own, the Demon King would be dead and the Hero would never need her allies, so why would the world make her allies to fight/travel with.

But the fact is that he wasn't one of the "Heroes allies", whom were granted blessings to be "useful" to the hero. What he did do was all the things outside of the actual fighting, which a lot of people take for granted. If I understand this chapter right and the first one, Red/Gideon actually hasn't leveled up in a while, so he became a hindrance when it came to pushing deeper and deeper in to the demons territory.

He was there for what we know as emotional support, but would he know that? His sister never tells him anything (Cause that blessing is f'n dumb), we know she wanted to go after him, but he didn't since again, she never tells him anything anymore. Last time was when they met Lit for the first time, but that was years prior to ch 1, so I can see how he was persuaded to leave. I agree that leaving his sister without saying anything is a dick move, but gaining the status of "The one who left the Hero Party" if this was found out would possibly forced him to become a hermit, since his face would be circulated around the world like a traitor who couldn't fight for everyone's survival.

TL;DR Yes he's a dick for leaving without saying anything.

I like the series, but none of the SOL elements are interesting because I'm constantly thinking about how I want the real plot to show up already.
Instead of appreciating Red and Lit's relationship grow I'm instead annoyed that they are delaying the plot from showing up another chapter again.
