The description kind of sells this story short. Exoda sees that his island is now full of women who can't go home because everyone thinks they were cursed as sacrifices to the devil, so he decides to implement representative democracy and get the economy rolling. It was cancelled when the magazine it was published in went under, which is too bad because it's actually pretty good.

This series is REALLLY good, but because we live in the worst timeline it went into hiatus indefinitely and then its anime adaptation was cancelled... sigh.

I hear ya @pizzapicante27 sadly I was thinking the original author may had gotten ill, or become a victim of the tsunami all those years ago.

It had much potential but got cut very short sadly.

@pizzapicante27, I don't think there was ever an anime adaptation announced. As PaxEmpyrean mentioned, the magazine it was published in went under and the series just never got rescued by any other publisher.

Wasn't that the manga commercial? I feel like I've seen this before. It's still not uncommon for small bits of animation like this for manga volume commercials.

Really makes me sad this didn't get picked up by another publisher. It had a solid setup and cast of characters.

This series was really good. That it fell victim to publication issues is truly a tragedy.

Why does the translator call translate maou into satan? I would have just left it as maou because the maou is the king of demons and the king/lord of demons can be any entity. Satan is an entity in the Christian universe and doesn't necessarily exist in all religions.

The premise is good, great even. Unfortunately it suffers from many things in 2000's style anime. The art is AWFUL with many of the cliche gags being used over and over again. I would love to see this same manga done again in the 2020's with a modern editor. That said it was enjoyable for what it was and a decent time.

Maou was translated in Satan because back then everything was translated, terms like big brothers that we all know is onii-san at the time were always in english.
Satan was used as the closest in meaning of the word maou for westerners.
The story is good, ligh and heavy moments, and th art style is on the upper tier of quality, it surpasses several isekai today and it was more than decent at the time.
I know it looks like I'm saying that the age it was made is the reason for several things that are not seen as well today, but is exactly the case, not everything age like Cowboy Bebop.

The manga wasn't truly axed, just unlucky as fuck, the magazine it was on go t cancelled and they moved it on another, my guess is that most manga in the bundle got moved and readers of the new magazine didnt have the time to understand how good it was, it was even young as story and lacking loyal readers.
The problem is that the authors instead of trying again throwed it away...normally in this kind of cases Japan makes novels of the story, nowadays they could even continue it in a only online format.

Possibly the 4 mini web videos were a way to check the popularity and it wasn't enough.
Should have just rebooted or continued it.

As I said, is a unlucky story.

I am pretty sure it fell/was cancelled because of the japanase tsunami at the time... I think so from what I remember when I searched for it years ago.
