Any particular reason why someone chose the first word of this manga to be in romanji and everything else translated properly?

'The author died before completing this work'
how ironic, the person closest to the protagonist, the one who created him, died.

@kuroiikawa, it's play on word, Shin (dead) and dere (lovey dovey, lovestruck). so it's not really a proper word. maybe the translator try to stay to the origin like when ppl adding honorifics in translation.

gosh, this upload opening my old wound, the author is dead so no one knows how it would ended..

Author died but couldn't he have at least written down the plot points or something just in case? Like what the deal with the brother and resurrection and Gods and the shrine were.

Such a shame I always wondered what happened with this story. RIP.

I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry, reading the last bit of that description. Maybe both.

I came across this one but knowing that the author sadly passed away I don't know if I should start this one or rather stop before I get addicted and have to bear with a mediocre ending. Does the ending leave a lot of plot holes?

@mommy the last story "arc"/case got wrapped up, but the overarching theme with the whole mystery aspect wasn't really completely fleshed, also the last chapter ended on a preview for the upcoming case/arc. It's still a pretty fun read :)

@ ickdrasil Thank you for the answer. I'll think about it and probably am going to read it. Aside from the human tragedy sadly a lot of authors don't write down a manuscript while they are still working on their works as they frequently change things up

I wanted to read this, but knowing that the end is cut short by the author's death just makes me want to avoid this. I don't want to see a masterpiece incomplete.

That was a fun read, although bittersweet knowing what happened to the author. I guess all we can do is enjoy the ride and what we could get of entertainment of it.

Ah, I get it now. the first chapter sort of made it clear. that was quite clever. though I see the nature of the series as a whole. that was some well-played misdirection. " everyone I love dies" the same implication was not added to those that love him. and the fact that his older brother is his Guardian. and the run-down house that they're living in. they call the goddess of the island the goddess of reincarnation. and his nickname was shinigami. and you had the female lead wanting to leave the island to find her mother. and they spoke of souls changing bodies. might just be speculation but I don't think the brother is who we believe him to be. Nishigami mentioned that his Guardian doesn't cook. the girls cherished possession was left behind by her mother. and it was, in fact, a cookbook. the girl who was making sacrifices was hiding in their home. and he showed her more affection then he did his own brother after they fell down the stairs. I suspect the mother tried to leave the island. her body was damaged. and she resurrected via swapping bodies. the shrine priestess had a flashback. and it looks like she drowned or nearly drowned. and she felt cold chills when trying to recall how she met the older brother. but these are just my speculations on the information that was given through these 20 chapters. pieced together with another story about an island that one you visited you weren't allowed to leave. I usually write book theories but this was fun.
