It's good Levius understands his shortcomings. Gozef is a typical corrupt government official. He's likely one of the ones who rather than be thankful the MC stopped the Demon Lord was unhappy with how powerful the MC was (meaning MC was strong enough to take anyone in the kingdom out including the king,) along with the curse. Lies about Levius being the hero, makes it a kingdom secret order, gives Levius missions as the hero knowing he doesn't have the skills or abilities to match the hero's, complains about Levius not having the capabilities of the hero while comparing him to the MC, and if Levius is ever exposed as a fake dump all the responsibility and blame on him while playing the victim card. Also, is Gozef trying to kill Levius sending him to get the holy sword back knowing that anyone who gets close to the MC gets drained? Previous murder attempts showed that MC couldn't be killed to stop the curse although I wonder if a high level priest or holy man could break the curse but wasn't allowed to because kingdom wanted to keep the MC's condition secret.
