the very idea of leaving such a well fortified possition is absurd lunacy, not only do they have big wellbuilt walls, they also have a moat making it even harder to attack the city as ladders and siege towers become pretty much entierly useless, the attackers would have no other choise but to go for the gates, which in a fortification is by far the hardest point to attack, also, you do not use siege engines to take down walls, in history, there only exist one single instance of a castles walls being breached in a siege, catapults would be pretty much useless in a siege, range is to short, some trebuchet's could indeed be assembled and likely would be used, but not against the walls, it would be useless waste of time and energy, you would target the ttop of the walls where the deffenders is, the hoardings, temporary wooden structure built ontop and hanging out over walls during a siege to offer defenders better reach against attackers below the walls and to prevent ladders and siege towers from being used, but with a moat ladders and siege towers is useless, you would never pre-build any of the siege engines and drag/carry them with you to a siege, thats pure fantasy and stupidity, you gather material and build them on site.

the only thing he'll gain from leaving the fortification is people questioning his intelligence.
