This manga already has so many issues that it bothers me a bit people focus on the non-important ones.
Let's see. Middle-school Chemistry is enough to know that nitroGLYCERIN (GLYCERIN, sugar) is sweet. (Whether is toxic or not, no idea, maybe tasting it is stupid which, again, is more of a thing to criticize). I also personally knew nitroglycerin is unstable as fuck simply from watching that TV show, Treasure Hunter?
So I myself would've recognized the liquid.

As for how to make it into dynamite...I'm like 80% sure High School Chemistry has the formula. And if not, have you NEVER gone to Wikipedia to read about Lance Armstrong and somehow ended reading about the Che Guevara after 15 random link jumps?
I don't think it's such a big deal that the MC worked construction part-time and knew about explosives.

If anything, what bothers me is that he recognized the type of soil he was standing on simply cause it crumbled...
