That was Konpeito who threw Shinosaki back from diving deeper into his own psyche.

Grandma is dead dead, but Konpeito has the ability to interact with the minds of others, just look at the 4-koma in the end... and grandma always used gloves, and you can see Konpeito's bunny ear ribbon a little.

Sweet penultimate chapter, this was a good story and again... as sad as I am to see it go, I am happy this end feels so sweet.

Interesting to see that shinozaki and yuuyake were childhood friends
And something bad did happen to shinozaki like an accident or maybe he was suffering from a disease that left him in such a state that yuuyake's grandma used repository magic to bring him back to life?? And because of that very process yuuyake and shinozaki lost their memories, really looking foward to see how this changes this duo (and grey) dynamic
Personally i like to think maybe there will be some romance, but this manga doesnt have a romance tag so idk

Yuuyake was never going to be able to relate to magic the same way as her peers but that entire reason is likely what made her compatible with Shinozaki.

Also selfishly I hope she chewed out her parents on the phone for only contacting her when it's convenient for them.
No wonder she's been in crisis this entire time.

the backstory seem like Shinozaki badly injured and Mahiru healed him with help of Yuuyake magic power.
Who call Shinozaki from dream? Mahiru soul?

Wonder what Konp saved MC from in his own mindspace...
We are finally getting some hint to when Shinozaki became a repository, of course is right before the end, the hospital bed makes me think that he was found by granny massively injured and she somehow activated the repo magic to make him a magical being and save his life, the machines weren't thrown in there, they kept him together, alive.
Hard to tell if he was in fact her repository or she forced it as it was the only method she had that could save him.
Nice how niece stayed true to her machines are better than magic and used the stuff in Shinozaki to help her complete the process.
Hope we get the closure we want in the next chapter, the last, but have some doubts...
