I actually like this direction, because if he talk smack about how he'll keep her safe and marry her in the future, it'll be a complete red flag about whatever happening next.
By saying he wants to stay away from Mika, he actually activates the legendary protagonist plot armor, which always works whenever a protagonist awaken their negative and pessimistic thinking.

So true. Also, in romance like this, there are two rules:
1. If the protagonist tries to get with his love, the plot will fight him from getting too close
2. If the protagonist tries to run from his love, the plot will do EVERYTHING to bring them back to chasing their love.
Number 2 is legendary effect because if protagonist abandons the female love interest, the plot dies. If number one happens it just means the protagonist will keep trying to be with her, the plot continues. The plot does not wish to die, thus it will do anything and everything to reverse number two.

He's thinking too much of himself. hes lacking so much self awareness that if he continues to do so, he'll end up actually being the stalker himself. pushing Mika away, hurting her in the process and giving the actual stalker more opportunities to enact on her vulnerability.
Also why arent they going to interrogate Noda now? him, Miyama and Mika is more than enough of a company to talk to him. Noda is like the ONLY lead. didn't he say he knew the other stalker? So why didnt they talk to him? wtf Author? that was a golden opportunity. Noda is also CONSCIOUS too. hes not in a coma or anything so why cant they just talk to him?
For all we know the other hooded guy would come in and kill Noda before they get the chance. its like stupid decision after stupid decision.

Well... she give up on her because she said the same thing tô the other guy and she was much better of them with him... so because he realized he was the same as the stalker he came tô the conclusion that he is not right for her
