Why do I feel like the ending is "haha man in drag haha don't tell the idiot guy he's been tricked haha", aka the oldest, least funny joke that makes it hard for trans women to be taken seriously

The manga started off pretty sympathetic to outsiders to society, like the friendship between the gay man and the Yakuza, I think, I won't ascribe any malicious any malicious intent from the author's part. Still, stuff like "punchline is man in drag" jokes doesn't rate highly with me either.

Great bonus. Nice doggos and chonkers etc and whatever the kids are using these days.

@EternalRavenDreamer I found it funny and I think most Japanese found it funny too. I feel that Western people are just too sensitive about this matter. It is just a light-hearted joke. It doesn't mean anything negatively about trans women.

Not all cross-dressers are gay or trans. They just want to dress the way they like. It is a hobby. I am a woman but sometimes I still wear men's clothing and there are people mistook me as a boy before.

Also a crossdresser isn't a trans woman in Japanese law since the law requires a person to start the transition process to change the gender on the paperwork. Not everyone wants to date or marry someone who is transgender due to a lot of reasons like they want to have children, etc. so it is actually better to be honest about that.

I don't believe it was meant to be mean spirited. The man that crossdressed was never the punchline. They treat his hobby with respect so I don't see what all the fuss was about.
