@eatgoddamnshit, i mean you can say what you want about personal responsibility but even just as a coworker its p clear that sakamoto's workstyle was the result of an undue workload for someone at her position in the office hierarchy. the actual bare minimum that her office owed sakamoto was preventing her from constantly working overtime to the extent that she was unable to have a personal life, because even when its framed as her personal decision its still makes her a liability from a health and productivity standpoint

I mean, death marches and dying from overwork is a common thing in Japan where, even though it's technically optional, overtime is seen as required to the companies, usually not even being paid. It's no wonder she's depressed and always drained, having no social life and feeling the need to run away.
Idk if anyone has already said this, but i recommend "She Doesn't Know Why She Lives" as the main character goes through a similar yet harsher time dealing with her depression.
