Just like the stereotypes around the "creepy old gravedigger", where in reality they are just respecting the dead. Something about being close to dead people just freaks humans out

Thanks for translating this, have had my eyes on it! Sort of reminds me of Dungeon Meshi, which briefly mentions corpse bearers, and the art have some hints of Eden of Witches. Looking forward to read more!

Yeaaaah, if i were those guys, i wouldn't antagonize a person whose job is to retrieve a corpse in the dungeon just in case me or somebody i know would need their service in the future. There's a chance the dude could jack up the price if they hold a grudge you know.

And what about the adventurer team that went with the girl? They just abandoned her or they dead too?

I remember a long time ago reading a one-shot about a magician that uses a body puppetry spell to carry their would-be hero party all the way back to their homes and families, and later turns it into a vocation. It was an incredibly powerful read, and this gives me tinges of that same energy.

Huh, I was kinda expecting this to be like Blade & Bastard where they recover adventurer corpses to be revived at the temple. But this is pretty interesting too.

The only thing that doesn't make sense was the family that hired her acting like she was plagued until she gave them money (the mithril ore) and then she wasn't so bad. It was realistic, but they were waiting for her to bring back their daughter but then don't want to interact with her? That's like if I went into an auto shop today and refused to interact with the mechanic and only talked to the sales clerk and went full Karen if a mechanic even tried to ask me a question about my car.

I like how the mask she wear changes expression

I think the family hired her through the proxy service or the man wearing the glasses, so there's a possibility they didn't really meet her face-to-face till now.

Either that or the author is trying to convey how superstitious people are about corpse bearers, where they are practically looked at like lepers. It doesn't help either that the MC doesn't bother or go through the trouble of explaining her actions and leaves it to the other guy to explain/mediate on her behalf.
