You're right, my Manga dedicated window on my computer averages 80ish tabs when it's time for my daily reads around 8ishPM (averages like 50ish after reading them all for the day). No I'm not reading that much, I also open discussion tabs in relation to the chapter I'm reading as well.

Counter-point : tabs on phone are More like „ suggestions „ compared to Their Computer-siblings since It's 1 button opening to a gallery of Web-site Snap-shots instead of a stick being filled Little boxes with names which dwindles as You add more , thus ; It's normal for a phone's browser to keep lots of tabs open while It gets tedious or annoying on a computer.
