Better executed chapter now that the story has had a chance to breathe. I'm actually interested in seeing how the author decides to portray the revival of Mira, since I was half-expecting her to actually be the soul of the gijin.
Seems like that soul is an emergent consciousness rather than a pre-existing one, which means the mess is entirely due to humanity's over-exploitation of the earth (not exactly a new trope, but still true).
