Agreed. I personally hate to be a zombie or something with rotting flesh. But a spirit that can still interact with the world sounds pretty good. It’s definitely the cleanest option. They don’t really need to worry about anything breaking. They’re just one singular spiritual entity Rather than a machine or body with parts that break down over time.

Those are usually called Poltergeist, or they're spirits that have a capacity for telekinesis, since otherwise they would not be able to interact with the mortal world.

Honestly, a researcher should already have weakness to sunlight and religion, vampire or not.

Wouldn't say it's a weakness in the case of scientists, but more like an intolerance. Religion goes against logic, after all. Although in some rare cases, you do have religious scientists. The two are not mutually incompatible. It depends on the religion though.

I’ve seen plenty of Christian scientist in documentaries. The less chill ones try to find ways that’s they can adjust science to prove that’s what the Bible says is 100% true, whereas the more rational ones take science for what it is, but view it as a puzzle from god. I don’t think thats a bad philosophy to have. They worship by admiring the beauty and complexity of the world that god built.
