Every time he goes berserker I think of "My love for you is like a truck" and "BARZARKARRR".
He should just give the ring out to the guild. Within a month, most team leads would be level 100 in a couple of jobs, and the team fatality rate would plummet. The team leads could then, at the drop of a hat, be consolidated into a commando unit to make invasion by an opposing power impractical. By the end of his life, most adventurers in the kingdom would be level 999 in multiple jobs, and special minecraft-esque creep-farms could be started to generate exp en-masse for newbie adventurers (stand in this circle for 30 minutes to gain 10 levels, just ignore the opera-like screams of thousands of falling orcs). But nooo, he wants to live a slow life when he could take over the world WITH THE ONE RING!
