on one hand it's somewhat satisfying to see a baddy brought low...but on the other hand...how exactly does a criminal ringleader who managed to establish himself in a major city not have the basic sense to cut his losses and give up? or is there some unobvious use for her superhuman skill that makes it THAT big of a prize that it's worth it in the end if he gets her?
not that super strength isn't useful, especially if the user can control it properly, but a strength buff skill that forces the user to go beyond the limits of high tier (mythril+) equipment durability even when they try to hold back, sounds less valuable than what it's cost this guy so far in opposing MC trying to get her

@aerozext honestly, if they are your typical zombies, arming them with legendary weapons is only as good as arming your enemies with legendary weapons instead...now, if he could plant magicked bones and raise an army of animated skeletons clad them in cursed armors and arm them with cursed weapons, that'd be much more effective and your enemies wouldn't get any benefit from looting the gear without a skilled team of priests to bless it back to a human usable state
also, where exactly is he supposed to get a legendary weapon in the first place, they don't just grow on trees BEFORE he's gotten ahold of them...

@InsaneInsomniac There's plenty of good uses for her strength, just not many combat ones. She's like the best beast-of-burden ever; amazing strength with intelligence to follow complicated instructions. Use her as a porter, she's pretty much as effective as a huge bag of holding. Or in construction/demolition, she can replace an entire team by herself.

Or, since he's already a psychopath, just have her fight bare-handed, with no regard for any pain. Just have a healer on the side, and you have an almost guaranteed winner in any brawl or betting match. With no equipment cost. Break her personality and you have a great enforcer, literally no non-magic barrier could stop her. Etc..

I admitted there are uses for super strength, but everything you pointed out are obvious uses. none of those seem, to me, enough to outweigh the losses he's taken and the risks he took at the end of the chapter, sure she's able to break any physical barrier, rig a fight or two (but that wont last long, once her skill is known no one would bet against her), or carry lots of stuff, but how does that compare to losing a whole thieving team (more so one that doesn't balk at killing when insturcted to too, that's not a common trait amoung theives, most of them prefer the lower risk of avoiding confrontation and the lack of potential murderer penalties if caught) AND risking the whole of your organization's local business (at least) by pissing off the government...not to mention, he was stupid enough to go out in person after just a single failure against MC, that's hella risky without factoring in that he knows the gov is probably watching him now

@InsaneInsomniac The non-combat uses allows the boss to start legitimate side-businesses, for money-laundering or alibi or what have you. At close to zero cost; all he needs to do is keep her alive. Slaves don't get paid, after all.

The combat/enforcing uses let's him literally threaten the country itself, if he wants to. He could just have her fucking raze the castle, tear buildings down on the army, etc.. For all we know, he could be planning a coup, with Maine being the cornerstone of his entire plan.

Either of these options far outweigh what amounts to a group of common bandits, in a pure loss-gain analysis. They live in a low-tech, low-developed, feudal society, which has been at war with demons for hundreds of years. Civil unrest should be insanely high, which means bandits can be found behind pretty much every other bush. One super-human slave, or a bunch of common-as-dirt hired thugs? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

that only applies at base value in a world without magic, though, and in this world, she is NOT the only superhuman around, she's just one of the stronger ones that hasn't been employed in a capacity that would put her beyond scum guy's reach
her skill, while undoubtedly useful, would likely be insufficient to take out the local lord's guards with their own sets of skills/spells, let alone raze his almost certainly magically protected and well guarded home to the ground or threaten him personally, and while use of her would let baddy run certain semi-legit side businesses, other more reliable businesses could be run for roughly the same cost or perhaps far less using slaves with normal skill sets instead, like black market shops or prostitutes
also, as I pointed out he's not just risking the ownership of her on this endevor, no matter how much you pay off the local guards, when bodies start dropping and hired murderers are being handed over alive to be interigated, it's gonna have massive impacts on all aspects of his criminal organization, not just the part of it moving against MC, he'll end up understaffed and prosecuted, and if he pushes too far the folks working for him might even give him up to the gov to buy their own safety. not to mention what his bosses might do to him when they find out how bad he screwed up managing the area, being alone under guard in prison might be safer for him at that point
over all, I'm not seeing how a single girl with above average strength who can't even control her power is worth multiple teams of killers, the second set far more skilled than the first AND putting himself in the middle so there's no way to claim it as some random unrelated incident when sh!t goes sideways...and that only if he survives MC and his own bosses long enough to have to justify himself to the law in the first place
*I'm assuming he has bosses cause he's obviously too stupid and impulsive to have actually built up a criminal empire to the scope of which we've seen in a major city on his own

@InsaneInsomniac It's clear we won't agree, so just some closing points:

- Physics triumphs over magic. Magic barrier on castle? Doubt it stands up to catapult-size rocks thrown at way higher speeds. Or a magic tool, like a bomb, thrown at high speeds. Force multiplier.
- Running equivalent businesses with multiple slaves is cheaper than one slave? The only costs for a slave are living costs; more slaves = higher costs. Regardless of said slave(s) skills or abilities. Guessing he already has brothels and black markets, too.
- You're assuming he doesn't have men on the inside. His entire deal with Maine was presented as legitimate, despite clearly being dishonest. No guard/police involvement though. Huh.
- By my estimate her super-human strength puts her at the same worth as dozens, or even hundreds with proper usage, of hired goons with close to zero upkeep. I count at most twenty normal, human thugs, with only one showing any sign of a skill (magic guy). Not all goons were lost, either. Easily a net-gain.
- The only difference in the second group is the mage and the boss. The rest are literally the same kind of garbage goons as the first time. They fell into a fucking simple pit, the morons.
- Of course he's fucking present! Being there raises his chances of success. Win = all's fine, no witnesses or evidence. Lose = he's fucked either way, being present or not.

Feel free to counter, I'm done. Enjoy your manga!😊

People keep saying Maine's skill is super strength. The last few chapters have convinced me that her real power is never flashing her underwear, despite wearing a skirt that's practically designed to flash your undies.

not many possess the light beams, some just have fabrics that can bend on their own will to protect their master. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

mostly ignoring the magic vs physical debate since we haven't seen much yet about how that all works in this world beyond the whole chosen heroes from another world are stronger bit...but typically, noble's houses have the highest tier physical and magic protections available, and they may well have others with physical skills who could deal with rocks thrown from range, remember range may keep you safe from counters, but it also reduces the force behind that rock and gives more time for them to counter (and bombs? I haven't seen bombs so far in this series, so the one most likely to break out something like that would be MC against these baddies, not the baddies vs gov...I mean, I suppose explosion magic maybe, but 1 we haven't seen that either and 2 at that point why does it need to be thrown at all instead of just directly magiced at the target?)
I never said the gov would get mad over one bad slave contract, but nobles tend to get upset with criminal organizations running rampant in their domain even when they do get paid off by them, cause past a certain point of criminal chaos, the king will eventually notice, and if things escalate too far before outside can put on pressure, they still HAVE to step in or risk the public rising in revolt, so either way corruption, if present, can only cover the baddies butts so far (that, of course, is excluding the possibility of some sort of divine oversight that means high level corruption just can't happen period, not likely, but I've seen a few series go there now)
regarding the multiple slaves vs 1 slave bit, you kinda overlooked initial investment costs? they've tried to enslave her with deep debt the kind you can't pay off EVER, enough money to buy numerous high durability weapons, even if it's just mid tier gear with an emphasis on durability those are not cheap, more so if it's actually high tier gear, that means with what it cost them to try and enslave her they could probably buy dozens of normal slaves and feed them for years and probably replace them as needed too, and a group of slaves can be split do multiple jobs or multiple instances of the same job, so while feeding them will obviously cost more than feeding one single slave (unless she needs to eat dozens of times more to cover the energy used, which again, we don't know a lot about the rules here yet, so maybe she does), that will be more than ofset by the increase in production that results from multi-manning any non-superhuman requiring work and/or covering multiple jobs, properly managed, possibly even enough that the cumualtive profit does offset the superhuman work only she could do
as for the second group, they are clearly better trained as killers, rather than bandits willing to kill like the first group was, and if you are gonna say poisons and magic are something any dumbass bandit can start waving around without killing himself and his allies in addition to his intended prey...just don't bother...
and any good underworld boss wouldn't show up in person at the second attack like that, he'd send better troops yes, but he'd stay away and make sure nothing can tie back to him incase anything goes wrong, and he should be well aware things can go wrong since he's dealing with someone who managed to so easily cut through the noose they were slipping around the girl and the girl herself with her ability, the only reasons I can see him being there are 1 he's that big of a moron, 2 she's somehow way more valuable than I can understand from current info available (which I have previously conceded as possible), or 3 I'm right about him being a tier 3 goon and a mere area leader and his boss ordered him to go with the tier 2 goons this time

It was THAT easy to abuse (nay, not even abuse, just use) her skill?!
She coulda just been a legendary rock-sniper all this time??
Even her abilities as an army corp engineer would be a significant strategic advantage. Imagine setting up a giant moat around your army in one night. Or changing the landscape to suit your need!

@DatOneGuy, even though the comment is 6 months old. Just imagine when she runs out of rocks, even though rock is very easy to get, once she runs out it's like, "wait a second guys, lemme get some more rocks." I mean same thing with the swords tho,
