Show page count for oneshots

I would like to know what I'm getting into before clicking on a chapter. I am aware the API returns page counts for chapter lists so it shouldn't be too hard to display the page counts.

Wouldn't that be something the uploaders would have to do when they upload the manga?
I'm not sure how the system works in that regard, but I guess if it involves a form to fill out the info when uploading and creating the manga listing page, summary, or whatever it is.... ????:questionblob: maybe add a optional form space to add a page count number that would display in the chapter title listing area.

The page count is determined automatically. When you start an upload you have to select the pages that will be added and the order.

Is the initial manga homepage and it's info created by the staff or the uploader?
I wasn't sure if the manga's main homepage setup wizard or whatever it is had a form to enter the cover and any related info might have a form to fill the stuff in or... maybe I should shut up now... my heads starting to melt. :wtf:

The manga itself is made by users. I’m saying each chapter has an associated page count.

Idk, after the chapter title or on the right? Oneshots because they can be anywhere from 4 pages up to 60 pages or whatever
The point was to ask what's special about oneshots specifically that doesn't apply to all titles ever that would make this a worthwhile feature.

Anyhow, at the moment I just don't really get the point. This seems like such a non-issue solved by simply opening the link, surely it's the content of the chapter rather than its pagecount that determines whether it's worth reading or not. The best way to know what you're getting into beforehand is by reading the description.

Say that to all the oneshots with no description.

Just to make a wild stab, I'd guess 95% of those are porn for which you're going to need a description even less
Well actually they're for the 1-4 page oneshots. The thing is sometimes I want to clear a lot of the 4-page oneshots, and it's really inconvenient if I run into a 30-page oneshot, since the time to back out of that and then unmark it as read and then drop it from my list is equal to the time to read one of the 4-page oneshots.

Thought of a better way to implement something that would be close enough.

I'm confused as to why oneshots are specified - as mentioned, it seems like you could just open the link, though I guess there's some value in saving the user a click each time.

I actually came here today to request page counts on chapter listings, because it's nice to know what you're getting into length-wise, and a 20+ chapter work with 2-3 pages each chapter is very different from a 20+ chapter work with 70 pages each. (These are not hypothetical numbers; I have encountered both just this week.) If anything it's more important on series than oneshots because opening a whole bunch of chapters to check page counts is getting unreasonable for a workaround.

It's not perfect information because sometimes there are long strips, but that is what the "long strip" tag is there to warn us of. It would still be a lot better to have the the per-chapter page counts.

Specifically on oneshots because a lot of these twitter webcomics end up posted on here and they are like 1-4 pages with the oneshot tag. I have personally gone through and removed the oneshot tag from these short comics and added webcomic if not already on there because they are not a story that can stand on it's own as a story.

Why removing the oneshot tag ? That's really stupid. You can just put webcomic AND oneshot.

That's the criteria that I use for determining the one-pagers with few false positives. Seems odd to not do that

I would argue it clogs the oneshot tag with stuff that is not exactly a oneshot? There is not a minimum page count required for it to be a oneshot, but I would argue that a oneshot is almost like a tv pilot, it's meant to be a short story even if it's not all of what is in the world of the story. I would not say anything less than 10 pages could be considered a true oneshot.
Would anyone who is looking for this be really looking for this? The second IS a comic, but it's not really a story? Like not even a short story. I mean otherwise could I not just start uploading memes as oneshots?
Overall It's a problem of there not being a short form tag. You can see me complaining about it over in this post.

Just follow the definition given by Mangadex not your subjective and personal definition !

The number of pages of the chapter and the number of chapters are different factors.
