weyr, we are not going to pad every room to accommodate every person.

If you are that fragile that you cannot handle a piece of fiction, you shouldn't be on the internet. You should be getting professional help.

Here's what I see happening: (myown fantasy)

1. The river takes both of them downstream to Tokyo Bay

2. The currents sweep them further along towards Yokohama

3. A departing ship finds and rescues them

4. The ship takes them to San Francisco

5. The Japanese community there shelters and feeds them, find them a place to live and work and starts them on the path of American Citizenship
