In real life, beating up everybody who contests your authority isn't a good way to actually build trust. It builds acknowledgement of your competence, but it can also stir up animosity, especially in this case. People might find it embarrassing to be beaten by a child and hate her more.

Setting aside that the situation is already wildly divergent from anything resembling "real life" (yes, let's hand a unit of insubordinate misfits to a completely unknown child, that sounds like a GREAT IDEA ), most of the demonstrated animosity comes from them them not believing that she's at all competent for the role, that they're participating in a farce of an operation on behalf of someone who's nothing more than a poster child for the kingdom.
Destroying those misconceptions with an undeniable demonstration of competence (read: giving them a beating) would force them to reassess those assumptions. Rather than a useless child there for a propaganda op, she actually deserves her title and position.
