Really? Girl shows up, “I’m an innocent kid”, “innocent kid? She can’t be a spy, Let’s take her in”, girl uses sword and trounces an adult professional soldier, no one says anything except as an after thought?
That's more of a plot convenience, imo. But keep in mind that they live in a world where war is the status quo, people have various Odo levels and superhuman beings like Heroes exist. It's shown that the Hero that the MC saw when he was a novice mercenary already overpowered him significantly in term of martial prowess and talent.

From how I look at it, the idea that a little girl from the boonies who's been drifting in the battlefields scarvenging stuff for survival might have been trained in or forced to learn how to fight turns out to be talented enough to beat the garrison's own talented young soldier in a duel might be a rare but probable occurrence in their world.

I fail to see the point in gender-bending the MC if it has no impact on the story. It does not seem to negatively affect the MC's ability to fight in the slightest. I get that magical enhancements are a thing, but there were no signs of him using such skills in his previous life, and he spent basically no time practicing it when he reincarnates. That aside...

There's very little that has been established concerning the setting, but generic country names and horrible armor designs make think poorly of the author and artist.

Story that emphasizes the value of effort but forgets that any great effort needs an equally great motivation or cause.

The main character is portrayed as an old man but thinks like a child. Maybe that's intentional. No complaints on the art, though.

After 5 chapters, my verdict is "Meh". 6.5/10.

The protagonist wants to be a hero, but only in the ancient Greek meaning of the word; an overpowered badass. Zero thought to actually being virtuous or helping people.
IIRC Sol warred against the Empire for like 50 years, and now was born on the Empire side warring for them, and there's zero reflection on that?
I won't say it's not realistic, but hardly admirable, and it's hard to root for.

So far the combat is also sort of meh. No special techniques or tactics or anything like that. The magic system seems very bare-bones, and there's little world-building.

Finally, characterization is kinda meh. They do have some personality, but it's all in relation to combat which is meh. The MC gets genderswapped and doesn't even care because there's no impact on fighting. If you took the combat out of this manga it would be left with nothing interesting happening at all. And the combat itself is hardly interesting, so...

I feel like maybe if this manga gets to run for 100 chapters or so, the author might get bored and start to actually explore the story possibilities of the setting. The MC might make friends, deal with death, find a hobby that isn't fighting. But as for now, there's just nothing to keep my interest.
