And from this chapter, Im guessing she didnt rupture the whole world, but one or just a few cities around, or maybe there are just some percentages of lucky people.

I was about to respond that clearly only "pure" or "good" people would survive, but I realised that a bunch of kids are dead, and most would say kids are pure (perhaps too pure, as their naivety can make them vicious little things). Maybe it's faith that makes a survivor? But then the kid's mum should also be around somewhere.

So I guess there are questions around what makes a survivor... survive...
