Could have been a better fight, but also could have been worse. A mid fight, and that's okay for me. I really liked Souji as a character, with all the illness stuff etc.

Imagine how cool this fight would have been if Susano'o was fighting any other notable swordsman from any other culture throughout history, (Off thr top of my head; William Wallace would have been sick). Author had to remove a rib to self suck for this one.

And with that, Asia gets ANOTHER WIN (it was a guarantee because they're both japanese)

Also I f/w the explanation of an "Ultimate" user of an art not needed to the tool to preform it. It was the most realist thing I have ever read.

We all knew humans had to win this round but tbh this fight to me was the least interesting. Idk how it was but it truly felt like not there for me which sucks.
There's no way it was less interesting than fucking Leonidas at least lol

So, multiple dudes have reached the swordless stage before the God Susanoo? They just died right after?

Maybe Susanoo isn't that good with the sword.

Alright, show of hands if anyone felt unsatisfied by the conclusion.
Nah I fucking love it. A god die, that’s a massive win in my book.

Even better when it’s a god that’s well liked. Die and never come back.

Frankly, the author does a good job of keeping me guessing on who is going to win these fights. If I didn't know what the larger score was, I would have had no idea who was going to win until the very end.

I honestly thought it would be a double K.O. :pepehmm:
I mean, Okita pulled off the move that should've killed him immediately after he used it. I guess it doesn't because he used a sword...? Even then, his sword didn't reach him, I guess it was like the void cut Susanoo used at the beginning. Still a stretch imo

bro won through the power of fucking friendship and thats the fucking difference one guy had the ultimate sword, the peak of swordart and swordmanship and the other had fucking friends.

The worst part about this arc wasn't just that it was asspull move after asspull move, it was that it took so many chapters of asspulling to reach the conclusion we all knew was coming. Souji has been around since the beginning of the series, so he wasn't just going to lose to some walk-on character like Susano'o, and that makes this arc's length even more annoying. They didn't have any major arcs or character developments, nor were there any crazy backstories, just two guys who swung their swords their whole lives coming in to once again swing their swords, boosted with a healthy dose of bullshittery. Every fight before this was more concise and felt more fulfilling, but this was just "I swing sword good," "but I swing sword gooder" "but I swing sword gooderer" over and over until they were both near death and then they did it all over again.

Soji tapped into alternate timelines and jinchuriki powers, Susano'o created vacuum fields of death and swung a sword without holding a sword, and yet this was still one of the most underwhelming fights ever, and this came after the unfortunately short Leonidas vs Apollo, and that's saying something. I know the author wrote a Shinsengumi story so they're going to be biased towards these characters and feel the need to make them seem extra cool or whatever, but it just feels so lame to keep artificially raising the stakes over and over again for a swordsmanship dick measuring contest. Each character so far has had their own level of ridiculous techniques or power ups, but this entire fight has just been power up after secret technique after power up, and it managed to make what used to be one of my favorite series feel like such a slog to read.
blud mentions everything but fails to mention the most annoying thing. THE FIGHT WAS DECIDED BY THE POWER OF FUCKING FRIENDSHIP!!! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!? Like bro I am watching sweaty super muscular dudes beating each other to literal time-soul-dust shit and you telling me that the ultimate sword teqnique didn't win cause the other mf had the power of motherfucking friendship!? Lile why did that bro get the power of friendship BUT ADAM FUCKING DIED? YES I AM STILL PISSED ABOUT ADAM DYING!
Nontheless the fight between leonidas and appollo was peak though. Appollo had a short but cool backstory and leonidas was a cool character and damn they gave each other a beating that wasn't just I have this attack and nuh uh mine is stronger. Like Appollo actually finishing it off with the arrow and no weird ass superevolution happening was the best decision author made.

Not a very well planned fight so they had to decide to end with a kinda mid moment
