To be honest, we should've seen this coming from the beginning (Ragnarok, Brunnhilde, Odin), but I guess the numerous Japanese fighters' ludicrous victories kinda distracted me from the concept.

Im coping so hard, becouse ever since I saw roster first time. I knew it was gonna be Loki vs Häyhä. All fight have been some kind of parallers. Greatest scum vs greatest hero, arrogant vs humble, faters of gods and human etc.

People were hopin sniper battle with apollo, and i mean Apollos archer is iconic but not really his main thing. When you look roster what would pair up sniper? We alraedy have Leonidas filling role for solider, and Quin Shi for ”im doing this for my people” patriotism stuff.

So in Simo’s case it gotta be doing something with sniping. And when we have human who is so skilled that if his eyes caught glimpse of you, you might as well be dead. Well god of deceiving enemy’s eyes.
People (me included) were actually betting on Simo vs Anubis, since it would be Hunter vs Animal / White Death vs God of Death and both are experts in sparse terrain (snowfield and desert respectively).

Why do I get the sinking feeling that buttmonkey Anubis is going to get continually denied his moment in the spotlight?
Bet he'll be a key figure with fighting Odin at the end probably. Because you have to assume its not gonna end with just the tournament.

Before we saw Simo's hood, I would've guessed that Rasputin was the only one capable of taking Loki head-on.
Not only was he built like a brick wall, he was a powerful mystic, a charlatan and a trickster himself.
Like, you expect him to have all the folk traditions, rituals and remedies for trickster spirits and things like that.
And If that doesn't work he could probably just punch Loki to death ngl.

Can't say I fully understand the Brunhilde - Loki interaction here. Why did Brun ask Loki specifically? And why did Loki accept?
If humans lose this round, odin will fight the next roud, and will be near impossible to kill him and then boom the primordials are alive again
Loki is the best match because of simo and the best chance of get this point and then fight anubis and have a chance to get the 2 points before fight odin

Personally, since the Match-Ups were given, I have been pretty sure that Rasputin would fight Anubis.
The God of the Dead vs The Man Who Can't Die
And getting to see Anubis only managed to strengthen that, since he's apparently a bit of a savage brickhead. For someone overwhelmingly strong, you you throw someone that doesn't fight with strength.
So throwing a Trickster and Mystic like Rasputin against Anubis would be a great recipe, that proved itself effective when Brunhildr threw Jack the Ripper against Heracles.

Yeah you're right, It's going to be a immovable object vs unstoppable force kind of deal with Anubis vs Rasputin.
Also, even being a mystic and trickster, I think Rasputin will probably be a close-quarter combat kind of guy.
He was a 2 meter tall, crazy looking russian mystic who was almost unkillable, I can see him just throwing at least one haymaker at Anubis.
