[Really kind for the warning and synopsis for those who need it. With the content, and what was shown, I think its fully understandable]

---

But dang what a good chapter, Mimi's been through a lot and its nice that Teru could show empathy and a connection. Might not be Mei saving her like she promised but its still effectively from her that Mimi will be saved so a promise kept through that inherited will.

I hope she will get the short hair back afterward even in transformation. She is not Shine and even if here it is good for the flashback of Mimi, I hope she will not try to look exactly as her sister.

This is definitely "Scar Transformation"
She must've overcome her obsession with her dead superhero sister inside of her mental space when she opened that door (which also explains why she even became a hero in the first place, but we could've already guessed that)
Idk why her overcoming that would manifest as her looking even more like her sister, but... I'm assuming one of the next few chapters will show what was skipped after she opened that door in her mind.

This arc has been particularly sobering to read. I've been noticing that there have been lots of subtle references to sexual assault, especially with this chapter. Shy is being pinned down by figures in masks with large eyes; she's screaming while her body is being possessed. Her clothes are shredded, and the viewer looks at her from above. I don't think this is a mere coincidence; Mimi's backstory is her spiraling into prostitution after she was mercilessly bullied for years. Her wish is to return to when she was never 'defiled' by adults who only view her with sexual intentions.

For those who decided to skip the chapter due to the content warning, pages 8 and 26 are absolutely worth it to see (and are completely safe)!

Nice the author decided to show more of Mei before she turned into the antagonist gives our girl Teru even more reasons to slap some sense into her

Actually, I think I just realized what happened.
Rather than overcoming her desire to live up to her sister's legacy, she probably overcame the embarrassment of trying to live up to her sister's legacy.
That would explain why she ends up looking more like her sister, and it makes more sense that her embarrassment is the part that she overcame (leading to her "scar transformation" form looking more like her sister, now unashamed of trying to stand in her sister's footsteps), since the fear of other people's eyes (aka embarrassment) was the fear that Qbara was using to control her, which dissipated when she came out of her mental space, making it the core "scar" that the "scar transformation" used.
She's called Shy, after all.

It's that Teru originally had long hair, but she started to wear it short because she was compared to Shine.
