That means you do it at a different occasion, not right there, right then. The idea of having people bring their own things is to experience different things, not the same thing multiple times. It also encourages direct comparisons, which is too obviously competitive and tacky. It just does not suit a refined tea party. For all the arbitrary rules nobles set to distinguish themselves from commoners, this one at least makes sense, even if the weight on it is too heavy.
