@Ulgan The butler in his past life did what he did cause he had Eugene's house's well being, and he believed it would be for the best that Eugene married with a noble woman of a prestigious family, instead of a commoner. He grew up to regret it cause his master didn't live a happy life as a result of his actions.

Yet, in the current life, the guy is a noble himself, so he clearly wants to marry his family into royalty. He ain't making the same mistake, cause he is acting on his own interests now, not on his master's.
