On the one hand, she's too obsessed with the relatively minor age difference. On the other, it's 100% her choice to not let him hold her hand, and asking "do you hate me?" is some incredibly manipulative bs to say

She never said please don't ask me out anymore. She just said she was busy. Now most people would give up, but it was not no, it was not right now. But this person did reject him. She didn't say that she's currently busy. She made it clear she doesn't want to. In that case you should give up, or you will be harrassing the person. You shouldn't continue until the person tries to get you fired.

Besides, fiction is in some form a reflection of real life. I like to think that's what makes it so interesting. It can hold lessons and messages that can be applied to real life. Simply ignoring these or not discussing these because fiction is ultimately a more idealized interpretation of real life where unlikely events appear frequently seems like such a waste.
