Software development gets "easy" when there's a huge demand and few fully trained people (for example, in the late 1970s or the early 1990s}. Game development is almost guaranteed to be a crappy job because the supply of naive, somewhat skilled people will almost always exceed the demand.
If you're so talented you can pretty much write your own ticket, why not pick a subfield where your co-workers will be happy enough for a decent work environment?
